Steampunk USB skin by DesertRubble Steampunk USB skin by DesertRubble
Steampunk USB flashdrive skin from polymer clay. The entire piece was made and cured without the USB in place and the USB flash drive was secured in place afterwards with 2 part epoxy.

I have a question; would it be possible if you took me through the steaps on how to make these?
I'd LOVE to have a steampunk style USB but I have no money and no idea how to make them. :(

I've made several of these where I made the outside around the actual USB and actually put the USB through the oven. There is a chance the USB might go bad in the oven, but that's an option for you.

I use a plug to keep the space for the USB 'ope' while I make it and the sleeve cures in the oven. The plug can be anything from cardboard, wood, to even polymer clay (which is what I use, I made them the exact size needed and cured them, I use a release to make sure it doesn't stick while curing the sleeve). So you make your skin around your plug, cure it, remove your plug, glue your USB in place. That's it, don't make it more complicated than it is.
